I am so behind with my blogging, more to come soon!

So I was flown to Sydney, I did 7 family shoots in one day, I was so exhausted, but also got to catch up with family who was down there... had a great time and have to admit it was a nice break (without kids) haha I actually got to eat my dinner hot, and sleep without knees in my back or elbows in my face! I hate flying and I hate planes and heights, so the flight there and back was interesting, but was happy to land safely each time!

I met a beautiful girl who is over from New York for a working holiday! We decided to get together and do a model shoot with a 'mermaid' theme!!

My mum made us a fin and it was perfect!! Thanks MUM!!

We had lots of little adventures as we roughed the sand, the wind, flying eyelashes and high tide!! crazy sand which is not tasty hahaha The weather really was NOT on our side!!

Thanks Miss J, I really enjoyed our shoot, and a special thanks to Adam Bolt from Adam Bolt Photography who assisted me today also! :D

So after all of the water has gone down, people will go to their homes and find they have lost so so much, It is so heartbreaking to hear what people are going through!!

One way Photographers can help is by donating their time and talent to ensure families will have some new memories to hang on their fresh walls as they start rebuilding everything....

I have joined the QLD & NSW Flood Victims Photo Appeal to donate photo sessions to those who have been directly effected by the floods in Brisbane and Sunshine Coast areas... this will be happening throughout all of 2011....

We are blessed to be high and dry, but feel so helpless as people just around the corner have lost everything!! :(

My house is in great need of de cluttering and organizing, so I thought to take a pic of our garages, full of boxes unpacked from 3 years ago, chairs, props, clothes horses full of clothes since we have had buckets of rain and of course a boat we just found ha ha

I tried this once before and just got so busy, I stopped, but this year I plan to make it, so far there have been 5 days..... I have missed those 5 days already!! starting from today I plan to try and do MCP photo a week!! here are 5 pics from different days over Christmas/new year period.... :P

Thomas the tank engine is at the train museum in Ipswich at the moment, my obsessed 3 year old didn't know where to go or what to look at, trains everywhere!!! he didn't stop running the whole day!!

So I know I said I would start these in 2011 but being on holidays and my kids being in the mood for photos, I still haven't put the camera down like I said I would!

I don't really do too much to my images I am still using the old original Photoshop 7, I was lucky enough to receive cs3 from a Photographer friend, but I have stayed in my comfort zone of ps7. 2011 will see me trying to learn a few more tips and tricks to enhance images for my clients, when I take the leap to learn CS3 which I have been told is fairly simple, just a few more options and capabilities to make the process faster!

here's a quick one of my son, my eldest son decided to style his little brothers hair and I had to get a few quick snap shots before we got into the car!!

The one below I used the gradient map to convert to black and white, there are many other versions and ways to do this but I find this one works well for me :)

So although I have had trouble getting my son to even get to the pool, he agreed to go to the Christmas party as long as he didn't have to race or do any strokes...he didn't even want to see Santa LOL

anyhow, it was such a hot hot day, that even I got in for a bit of a dip, it was so nice!! Summer is going to be very hot and I am still waiting for the pool and air con I was promised ha ha...

My hubby although having some health issues at the moment got out of the house and was able to have some fun with his little guys...

I am so glad the holidays are here and we can all relax and have some family time..

The count down for Christmas and family coming is on, and I can't wait to have a full house again!!

I am currently organizing a shoot with an international model/workshop for myself and other photographers if they are interested in joining me...It will be a great learning experience and I can't wait to work with this model!

The little monster is fairly easy to get photos of but the bigger monster is happy one pic gets taken and no more!! although I still get photos of him, they do always turn out like the one below on the right ha ha :P

The school holidays have now begun, I am on holidays and that means, Photo shoots of my boys and family!!

Christmas is at our place this year so family will be travelling from NSW up to here, we are still trying to figure out where we will fit everyone in but we will manage!

The monsters have already made me grab the camera out and had fun this morning posing for me and being silly....

My big guy has finished Yr 2 and is almost as tall as me, well not really but nearly up to the top of my shoulder haha...

It has been a challenging year as I build my business and deal with everyday life and lots of speed bumps along the way...we always get through it and we will continue to strive through all the challenges that are thrown to us...

Thanks to all who have helped with my business and a BIG thank you to all of my clients who keep this business going, and a BIG hello and welcome to Beck's Photography to my new clients who I will be working with in 2011, can wait to meet you! :D

Brisbane Photographer || To Photoshop or not?? Before and After's

So I have been thinking about how much I photoshop, and why??

Generally its to enhance what is already there, to add a little bit of texture and create the photo into a piece of art!...

I love texture's so alot of my work has textures, but I also love a clean crisp image. I love people to be just as they are, but I want to compliment them and create what the camera may not capture...

I give my clients funky 'real' creations that you wouldn't get if you were to take your own photo with your own camera.

You will be surprised at how little needs to be done to an image when the photo is taken with consideration for lighting, correct camera settings, exposure plus talent etc....

Remember you can't just take a picture and hope to fix it in photoshop later, get it right straight out of camera!! Use photoshop as a tool to ''enhance'', not to ''fix''

BRISBANE EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER || Kindy Fundraiser

Same time last year I was invited to Photograph this event. The children are gorgeous and the day was fun!

My 7 year old came to second shoot for me, he was doing great when all of a sudden about 20 min into our shooting my camera (5D Mark ll) decided to break on me!!!

I had to use my little camera and my son assisted me, we had a great time and although he didn't have a camera to use he was a great help and loved feeling responsible.

The day was full of laughing and dancing children, treasure hunting, balloons and more.....

We went home happy but disappointed with my camera, which is now in Sydney getting fixed!!

My love for flash has been very short lived, but after attending a few creative workshops with Shelton Muller and Glynn Lavender, all of the loads of information from workshops attended before with people like Zack Arias and Joey L... its all finally coming together and making sense!!

I can't wait to get out there and practice all this information and get even more creative with my shoots!!

Met the most gorgeous little monsters today, 18 month old Twins Little Miss A and Master L... They love to explore! The rain stayed away but it was still muddy there which made it squishy and muddy to get around, lots of bubbles, balloons, bikkies and dancing later we got some beautiful shots of these two! Brisbane Upcoming Flash Photographer || haha more practice!

So this flash thing is really growing on me! Met up with a few other photographers and had a great time playing with the light! I have come to the conclusion that I need a new flash! ha ha When I don't have enough natural light that I like to work with at the same time, I need the other flash to be my sun!

So I met up with Mel and had my first practice at off camera flash stuff on my own!! wow so much fun, who would have thought I could be converted to using flash!! Can't wait to do it again!

These kids were dressed in electric circus theme outfits. They were so much fun to work with! I still have a long way to go with my flash skills, but had fun trying!

The kids all had their turns taking pictures as well and did a great job!

A baby monster, so content and happy, I am so glad to have had the chance to meet him.

He was alot of fun and loves puppies and trains, the rain caused us to cancel our first session and had threatened to cause us to cancel again. We decided on a location change, somewhere I just saw while driving home... this gorgeous little guy was full of personality and so many funny expressions!

I met up with Miss K, a very lovely girl who I had first met at a workshop I attended where she was modelling. We have been trying to get together to do this shoot for a while... finally we were able to do the photo shoot today, the rain was good and stayed away until we had finished! It was a crazy day with a carnival at the same park we were using, but thankfully they were over the other side!

Busy Busy Busy!!

I am busy editing, organizing my office and preparing for my first business stall in Septemeber!!

My son's school is holding a Community Festival and I will have my own stall there to promote my business.

So much goes into it, along with my work and processing, delivering, and juggling all of this with 2 little monsters at home...life is crazy at the moment!

The last few sessions I have had have been wonderful!! I have had alot of fun and met some amazing people and beautiful children!

Trying to figure out this Blog thing is also harder than I though it would be but I am starting to learn about the html thing, so not all pointless...

Well I had better get back to my work!

GARDEN BUDDY

My son's Yr 2 class has a garden they have made with lots of vegies and herbs etc... each day their 'garden buddy' goes home with a student to see their gardens at home...

We had to get some photos of my son Master E and the garden buddy in our garden, we only have grass and a tree out the front haha so we took pics on the grass and in the one tree we have hahaha

o I am wondering??? what as clients would you prefer? I am happy with my straight out of camera (sooc) shots, but I like to enhance my photos, make my images into art, maybe add a texture or 2 to create a fantasy look or grunge it up etc...

I wonder if I could make a Photography business for myself without the use of photoshop? Would it be possible? What I get clients wanting to pay for a photo that is not enhanced and created?

As a client of mine or someone who is researching photographers, for a family shoot etc...what would you prefer?

What do you pay for? Is it the talent of the photographer? is it the photoshop they can use to get rid of your blemishes, bruises etc? Is it all of the above? I need your feedback, it will be really appreciated!!

I had the Pleasure of meeting and working with Violet and her fab make up artist Daarian! Violet wanted a Gothic absinthe fairy theme, so we got our heads together and headed into an irish pub in the city to create some absinthe fairy images.

We had 4 gorgoues models to outfit and I had a fun and hectic afternoon chasing around babies and giving them lots of sugar hahahaaha

I have been hacked twice on facebook, so I will be deleting my page soon and sticking with this Blog. You will find what I have been up to and what is to come!

I often wonder why people choose to hack into your computer?? I wonder how they have time to go into someone else's private world and try and ruin it! Much to my disgust I was greeted with a horrible image on my pofile picture one early morning and had to change my password, only for it to happen again, this time no picture but they changed my info details, insulting my marraige! This is enough for me to want to leave facebook behind and start a blog, seems to be all the rage anyway, I am just a little behind haha It is such a shame to leave my facebook group as I have come across alot of beautiful people who have assisted me with my business or passed alot of work my way which I am very greatful for!...

Anyway enough of my babbling! enjoy my Blog and my images!
